Typing delay

When I type my search phrase, the extension sends ajax request right after every keypress.
Is is possible to add some delay to prevent this?
Similar to select2's delay
select2.org/data-sources/ajax#rate-limiting-requests

Hello
When I use multiple module instances (like for offcanvas) I get this JS error:
(index):1306 Uncaught SyntaxError: Identifier 'delayTimer' has already been declared (at (index):1306:13)
